Happy New Year!

Had a tremendous year of training for 2013!  Saw many students make big jumps in their Jiu Jitsu game and a good handful of students get some big belt promotions.

2014 also promises to be another big year!  The Academy is doing great.   The students are training hard.  And the team is solid!

We want to wish everyone a safe and Happy New Year!

This week, the academy will be closed Tues and Wed for X-Mas.  We hope that you will have an awesome Christmas with your friends, family and loved ones.



This Saturday, December 28 from 1:30-3:30 come learn BJJ escapes from the bottom of side control.

Everyone is welcome and the price is an affordable $25!!   You will learn a quick system that will provide a framework to help you to defend and escape the grueling top side control.

Happy Thanksgiving!!!

 Leg Lock 2 hour, mini seminar this Saturday, Nov 30, 1:30-3:30 at the Excel Academy.

First half will cover the basic Straight ankle lock, going over grips, positioning, mechanics, and entries.

Second half will cover defenses and escapes from a variety of leg locks including the heel hook, knee bar, toe holds, and knee compressions.

Open to members $25, and non-members $40.

No-Gi & Gi Brazilian Jiu Jitsu classes in Oceanside, Ca

In the No-Gi classes students will learn to modify grips and holds to compensate for the fact that No-Gi can be much more slippery and faster without the uniform fabric slowing down the game.

In the Gi classes, students will be working diligently on their Belt advancement from the White Belt to the eventual Black Belt and beyond.  The Gi training is so much more rich in technique because of all the control points offered by the uniform.  Students will learn a wide array of submissions, positions, Grips, and strategy.

Do not rely on being spoon fed.  It is good to ask questions and ask for guidance but all in all, the Jiu Jitsu journey is about self-learning and self-discovery.  Once you realize this you are well on your way to being a Black Belt in Jiu Jitsu and a great representative of the art of Jiu Jitsu.
