Here at Excel Jiu Jitsu MMA Oceanside, we want every No-Gi BJJ student that leaves a workout saying, "Wow, that was awesome!"  Now with that said, the key to coming in to learn a combat sport is to stay humble.  Everyone is going to 'tap' in training and the fun comes when you are happy for your training partners when they do get their 'taps'.  Because when they get better, the team gets better, you get better.

Martial Arts classes that specialize in Ground fighting help to increase awareness and aspects of self defense.  Some people call it the 'Art of Fighting', but to have a set of strategies to go along with technique and mental toughness, can help people to build character as well as condition the body.

Marco Alvarado, 2014 IBJJF Brown Belt No Gi World Champion

We had the honor of having Marco Alvarado (won last years IBJJF No-Gi World Championships at Brown Belt) as a guest instructor at Excel Jiu Jitsu MMA Oceanside.  Awesome No Gi BJJ class!

Learning the Jiu Jitsu 'language' happens one class at a time.  It's best to learn Jiu Jitsu in little chunks.  There is so much to learn.  Learning the Martial Art of Jiu Jitsu takes a long time and that is why it's best to set goals to keep motivation high and keep dedication strong.

Marco Alvarado taught a very technical No Gi Jiu Jitsu class last Thursday, April 9th, that put all the techniques in sequence and together in a system, that made it a lot easier to retain the information.
