Feb 2-7, Chris Haueter Seminar

Chris Haueter Seminar on Feb 7 Thanks everyone for contributing to a great training session with Chris! We had a Blast!!! Chris gave an outstanding seminar giving some great Jiu Jitsu insight and cool looking pretzel type locks! Oh, I would hate to be on the receiving end of those!!!
everyone had a great time working and increasing their Jiu Jitsu game. Chris started off with a takedown to combinations of Guard passing to an amazing side control attack. Then to wrap it up he gave some cool ideas on choking with T-Shirts for self defense. Chris is real sharp on his technique! Outstanding detail with grips and positioning (above pic)

Congratulations to Ben Blakesly on his Promotion to the Blue Belt on Tues, Feb 3 (above pic)! This man is a hard worker, dedicated and awesome to watch. This is just a stepping stone on his way to the Black Belt someday! Keep it up Ben! You are a Stud!
What a Super Bowl on Sunday! It came down to the end and a lot of people were rooting for the underdog and comeback and it almost happened! Go Steelers!

February 22nd, Sunday there is a no-gi tournament in San Diego that a few of us will be competing in! I'M IN!

This is a great week! we started the week off with side mount control and attacks and will also incorporate attacking quarter position.

Whew! I'm so nervous to compete in my first tournament! Hopefully it'll be fun and go smoothly! If I lose, it will be due to a lack of experience, and not because I gave up!

I hope my endurance is good enough :D

I can't wait to get in there tonight and start working again.

I'm looking forward to coming down guys. As I've said before, you guys are a great team and easy to coach and work with!

Any thing you guys might want to work on, let me know!!

Hey Mich, my legs are super sore. I taught an aerobic kickboxing/cross-training class Monday night. They were sore yesterday, I rolled for an hour last night thinking they'd be less sore.

Now they're worse!!!
Any advice?
Or is that just the price of getting back into shape while being an older athlete?

Hi Chris!

I was hoping you could teach a couple of your great guard passing techniques to side control attacks and maybe even some of your North South attacks! You are great at those!

Also, to finish off, especially for the No-Gi guys, some of you T-Shirt chokes? I'm sure that would be a hit for Self defense!

As far as soreness, welcome to the club, man! If you're doing Jiu Jitsu and something is not hurting on you...then maybe you're doing something wrong ;-)

thanks,

Michio

What a sweet seminar! Loved the nail gun. ka-chunk. You know, I got home and drilled some of what we had been learning against my dad, and a real staplegun works a lot better. Just sayin'.

Greg! I'm glad you had a good time! but no real staple guns, please!!!

The seminar with Chris was a lot of fun and very informative. I am excited to add small things to my game at a time, and honored to be a part of a good team like Team Magnitude (Plus Combat Base!). I've been on my fair share of teams, and it's hard to put one together like ours. Thanks Michio for being as dedicated an athlete as you are!

I think competition will be fun. I am nervous, but the more I think about it, the more I remember: tournaments get WAY easier when you put more time into the gym, cardio and mat time both. Wrestling is 90% balls and 10% technique. It seems to me that Jitsu is more like 50/50. Mat time is way more important!

... insomnia anyone?

Wow.. that seminar with Chris was awesome!! Thank you Michio for setting that up for us, it was well worth the $20 + a torn t-shirt. I cant wait to try out that mean cradle-like control position that he showed us.
